Air France Bomb Threat

There was a bomb threat made to an air france airliner scheduled to fly from Brazil to Paris on may 27 just 5 days before the tragic crash of the air france flight 447 is thought to have killed 228 people.

The Jet in question at the time was inspected and cleared. It is very ironic that this threat was made at the same airport to the same carrier flying the same route that mysteriously crashed just 5 days later.

Finding the black box is going to be a herculean task as it is thought to be in very deep water up to nearly 23000 feet below the surface, beyond the reach of most manned craft in existance today.

We can only wait and hope for some good news, though survivors are extremely unlikely.

Flight 447 Found

Some wreckage has been found in the atlantic along flight 447′s flight path, which the braziliann government has confirmed as being from the doomed airliner.

Among the debris includes an airplane seat, a life jacket, metallic debris and signs of fuel.

This is great news as it means that they are much closer to being able to find out exactly what happened to the airliner, and more importantly to  being able to bring home the victims of this tradegy to their greiving familys.

This is all i have at the moment.

authorities have still not released a passenger manifest i will keep you updated.

*UPDATE*

The debris found and mentioned here is not that of flight 447 it was just floating trash i am sorry for the misleading information, i keep you updated as to if they do find any actual debris.

*UPDATE* 7/6/09

There have been 2 bodies recovered from the atlantic the are definately from the Air France flight, Some of the wreckage recovered at the same time included  stub from a ticket to the flight.

*UPDATE* 12/6/09

The latest findings have the plane breaking up in midair over the space of a few minutes, rather than one catastrophic incident.

The Brazilian air force has revealed that bodies have been found as far as 50 miles apart, and the other factor to this, the latest conclusion is that further analysis into the messages the plane sent out before contact was lost, does suggest that the plane broke apart in the air before it crashed.

228 souls are lost forever May they all rest in peace.

Latest on Air France Flight 447

Well its been 24 hrs and no word, no wreckage and no survivors. The only clue we have so far is what appeared to be fire on the surface of the water seen by other planes on the route, but the area has been searched and nothing was found. There is little chance of finding the plane, even if it is afloat, it will have drifted hundreds of miles by now.

The search and rescue efforts have been hampered by heavy cloud and bad weather.

Here is what we do know:

all times Brazilian local time.

7:03 pm Sunday: The plane took off  normally from Rio De Jeneiro

10:30pm Sunday: Air France says plane has last contact with Brazil.

Brazilian Air Force says last radio contact at 10:33 pm , 565 kilometers from northeastern Brazilian city of Natal

10:48pm: Brazilian Air Force says last radar contact with Brazil indicated plane flying normally.

11pm: Air France says plane entered zone of storms and high turbulence.

11:14pm: Automatic message indicating technical problems, including a loss of pressure and an electrical system failure.

11:20: Brazilian Air Force says plane fails to make previously scheduled radio contact with Brazil. Brazil notifies air traffic control in Senegal.

2am sunday: French military radar begins searching for plane.

2:30am: Brazilian Air Force mounts search and rescue.

4:30am: Air France sets up crisis center.

6:15am: Plane’s scheduled arrival in Paris.

It is pretty clear that whatever happened, it was sudden and catastrophic, it is likely that the plane was struck by lightning, but this alone is extremely unlikely to have brought the plane down by itself.

There is a large search involving brazilian, french and US equipment including Planes, Helicopters and boats underway. i think it is a matter of time before the plane is found, but time is very likely out for any survivors.

I personally will never give up hope that at least some of the passengers have somehow survived. But the facts are that that is extremely unlikely, My heart goes out to the families of the victims, i just hope the cause of this tragedy can be found and prevented from ever happening again.
