House Rejects Pullout from Iran War; GOP Sticks with Trump

Democrats Sound the Alarm

House Democrats are screaming from the rooftops, warning that the U.S. is about to jump into another endless Middle Eastern quagmire. Rep. Gregory Meeks says we’re teetering on a cliff, and Congress better act before Trump gives us a shove.

With a 213-214 vote, the House shot down a resolution to yank U.S. forces from Iran without Congressional permission. Democrats are worried about getting stuck in a conflict with no exit strategy, but Republicans are clinging to Trump’s coattails like it’s a lifeboat.

Republicans Cry Hypocrisy

Republicans are calling foul, pointing fingers at Democrats for past military actions. Rep. Brian Mast says Democrats didn’t bat an eye when Biden went after Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen. But now, with Trump in charge, it’s all ‘war power, war power, war power.’

Under the War Powers Act, Congress has 60 days to authorize military force. That deadline’s looming at the end of April, but lawmakers are telling Trump to show them the plan or get packing.

The Cost of Conflict

Democrats are using the failed vote to spotlight the war’s ugly price tag: billions of dollars, 13 dead service members, and gas prices that make your wallet weep. Rep. Pramila Jayapal points out that gas is hitting $7 a gallon, and there’s no exit strategy in sight.

Republicans, meanwhile, are waving the flag of accountability, saying Trump’s just holding Iran’s feet to the fire. Only Rep. Thomas Massie broke ranks to vote with Democrats, while Rep. Jared Golden decided to play for Team Trump.
